The Very Last Days of Summer

This weekend I was in denial, steadfastly refusing to believe that summer could be over. I ignored my looming school responsibilities, refused to take advantage of the tax-free weekend to buy school clothes, and generally just went about the days as though there was nothing changing. But this morning I must resign myself to the fact that our wonderful, relaxing, fun-filled summer is coming to an end.

Lauren's back to school day is Wednesday. Her back to school gathering is Thursday and Jon Owen's is Saturday. I have a whole host of things to do to prepare the Co-op Board for the coming year, and a whole host of new Parish Freaky Friday responsibilities to get my arms around. I must organize and hand off all the silent auction information to new chairs. We are back in "school-mode."

I don't want to be back in school mode. I liked this summer. The kids didn't do many camps. We maintained our flexibility and did exactly what we wanted to, when we wanted to. We traveled -- we spent almost 3 weeks in Florida and almost 2 weeks in New Mexico. When we were home, we spent less time running, and more time relaxing. We spent countless hours out by the pool. For me, it was perfection.

And so this morning I'll spend some time reliving my favorite summer moments. And sharing them, of course.

...and we didn't even spend any substantial time together and the summer is over. We have to do better in the future.

how fun and I wonder if there is a way to print these and put them in a book or something to keep for the kids. it would be a wonderful little keepsake....Love the boots! Although I think I would be almost 7 Feet tall in them. Give the kids a big hug and kiss from Aunt Heather & Uncle Matt.
