We do it every spring and fall -- go through the drawers and closets, try things on, decide what fits and what to pass on. And as I wade through the piles, I immediately flash back to my memories of them wearing these things. Lauren at 4 with her mop of blonde curly hair, in her green corduroy trench coat lined with a great zebra print, a pair of jeans, and her black patent shoes. A much rounder Jon Owen on our first trip to Disney World, walking along the Boardwalk, wearing a light blue "dig in the sand and find a treasure" t-shirt. Hudson in the brown and grey comfy track pants and striped t-shirt that Tia Meow Meow bought him for Christmas.
Luckily Lauren's clothes get another life with the Finnigan girls, and I get to see pictures of Riley frequently wearing them. Jon Owen's clothes get passed down to Hudson. And now Hudson's clothes will get passed on to Heather's son, Asher.
But it's emotional. Because I love choosing their clothes. Because these clothes have stories. And because they're growing up and out of them way too fast.

I'm the same, sappy way! I even saved the kids tshirts from younger childhood and am having quilts made for them.
