So on Saturday night, Jay and I were invited to a 40th birthday party for one of our Parish people, Beth Chapman. Beth's husband, Ron, threw the party -- and what a party it was! A large, beautiful private room at the downtown El Fenix, looking out onto the rooftop which overlooked all of downtown (it was too cold to go out there, but the view was spectacular); great food and an open bar; a really good band; beautiful flowers, cake, invitations, lots of special touches; cars to pick up and take home those nearest and dearest, thus avoiding any drinking and driving; valet parking for the rest of us; and a great, festive, fun party that everyone enjoyed.
Note to those of you intending to plan a party for your loved one: this is how you do it. And if you don't have the skills to do it, then hire an excellent event planner, which is what Ron did. He was the hero of the night and deservedly so -- it was an excellent time.
