Next Stop: Chama

Next stop: Chama -- to visit with my Dad and my Aunt Miriam.

Grandpa Trujillo had been promising Lauren for forever that she could ride one of his horses. So he brought Sleepy down for just this purpose. Sleepy was gentle and sweet, and the kids weren't scared of riding him at all. Even Hudson and I took a spin!

Also on the agenda: fishing. We spent a couple of afternoons driving through the mountains on our way to some of Grandpa Trujillo's favorite fishing spots -- the kids had a ball and loved being outdoors. Lauren thought it was great fun to catch grasshoppers for fish bait, and ran around with the dogs looking for them!

My favorite locale was, of course, Trujillo Meadows. Named after my great, great grandfather (I think -- or maybe just my great grandfather?) who used to ride and tend to his herds there, this area of southern Colorado is truly God's country. I spent lots of time there as a kid -- fishing, camping, picnicing. It's soooo beautiful.
