So last night was "Hillcrest Night" at the Parish varsity football game, which basically meant that the place was over-run with young kids and their parents. They did a great job catering to their younger demographic by filling up the baseball field with bounce houses, barbeque, face painting, snow cones, cotton candy, pictures with the Parish Panther mascot, and the coup de gras -- the build your very own panther station, where you were able to stuff your panther, give him a wish and star, decorate a shirt for him, and collect a birth certificate. It's a blatant rip off of Build-A-Bear, but the kids loved it.
We attended with Jake and Katie and their parents, and as usual, the three of them ran around like the three amigos. They even made room for Jon Owen, who thoroughly enjoyed himself and is looking forward to being at Parish next year. Jake and Lauren have developed little crushes on each other, and so the parents spent the night negotiating future dating rules and rehearsal dinner parameters. It was a great time.
And the football team won (I think -- we left after the first quarter, along with every other parent of a young child), they are actually very good and have a quarterback with a great arm. Go Panthers!
