Noah's Ark Presentation

Every year at Parish, the Kindergarteners do a section on Noah's Ark which culminates in a 20 minute program in chapel, where one little boy gets to be Noah (this year it was the adorable Grant Shroyer, younger brother to Lauren's friend Mia) and the kids march in two by two, holding the pictures they've drawn of the animals they would like to be while Mrs. Brinkman narrates the story. Once they're all on board the arc, they sing a few adorable songs (rise and shine, and give God the glory glory...the Lord said, to Noah, there's gonna be, a floody floody...get-my-children, out of the muddy muddy....).

So Friday was Jon Owen's presentation. The chapel was filled to the brim with beaming parents and faculty (this is a beloved presentation amongst Parish people), and those of us with older kids on campus pulled them out of their morning class to watch their siblings (there are about a million 2nd graders who also have kindergarten siblings, it's a great thing).

Jon Owen chose to be a snake, and drew the fattest green snake you've ever seen (he reasoned that the snake had just eaten a melon). Here's the first video showing him entering the chapel with his fellow snake, I will try to upload the second video into a different post.
As you can imagine, it was a tear-fest for me...watching Jon Owen standing up there looking like such a big boy, just having made the transition to his new school, standing next to his friends, looking totally comfortable...and remembering Lauren at this age, doing the same presentation (she was a duck, I've uploaded a picture of her presentation -- I can scarcely remember this face!). Lots of emotions, lots of memories.
