Jon Owen's First Day at Parish

So although he had spent some time there this summer and played on a Parish T-Ball team, Jon Owen was still nervous about his first day of school.  He was fine all morning as we rushed around and got dressed, and was fine walking into the school.  But after we took Lauren to her class, we had to sit in the library for a little bit while we waited for his class to start, and he grew very quiet and twisted up.  I tried to make him feel better, but he really needs to just get there himself, which is so much like me it's painful....I wish I could spare him all the nerves and anxiety that I have always dealt with.  But I can't, so instead I just cuddled with him until it was time to go to his classroom.

Mrs. Vacek was there to exuberantly greet the kids (where this woman gets her energy I have no idea), and so Jon Owen found his hook, his cubby, his name tag, the password of the day (friends), and tentatively went into the classroom to start playing.  Soon it was time for Jay and I to leave, and as we did, he looked at me and said, "Ok Mommy, NOW I'm excited!"

And I cried and cried.
