Look at this face!!!! Have you ever seen Jon Owen look so proud? He is beaming because tonight, in his first ever basketball game, he scored his first ever basket. The team scored only 8 points, and 2 of them were Jon Owen's! I yelled and cheered and jumped up and down like a crazy person, I have officially become one of "those Moms." Just couldn't help it -- for Jon Owen to start a new sport with this boost of confidence, well it's just huge. There are no words.
I wasn't sure what to expect, since these boys are young to be playing organized basketball (the YMCA doesn't even run a program for kindergarten boys), but they did really well. And Jon Owen, who started out not even wanting to play and getting frustrated with dribbling, played really good defense and surprisingly good offense. And he had fun. It's a good night in our house.
