First Day of School at Parish

So last Tuesday, Lauren and Jon Owen went back to school.  We began the day with our traditional photos in front of the house...
For Lauren, it was her first day at the upper campus, replete with a new uniform (gone are the little girl jumpers, replaced by a much bigger girl aesthetic of a skirt, button down shirt, and vest).  She was slightly nervous driving over, but once we parked and saw some friends, she was fine.  I had a teary moment as we were walking through the front doors -- which were lined with upperclassman, high fiving all the kids and welcoming them back to school.  When, may I ask, did it become standard practice for my little girl to be high-fived and welcomed back by high school seniors?

So here are some pictures of her morning....

Yes, I realize these pictures are lame!  Also lame -- being walked into your classroom in 3rd grade.  I was instructed to stay behind, as were many parents -- so we all stood at the door like vultures, hoping for a glimpse of what was going on inside.
But apparently all's well that ends well -- because she looks awfully happy here with her classmates.

For Jon Owen, it was his first day in first grade -- but it was old hat to him.  Same campus, tons of friends, he was great!

Crazy eyes with his AWESOME teacher, Mrs. Hood
